Terms and Conditions of Use: Skoot

Last updated: 28 Aug 2026 · End User Licence Agreement for using the Skoot app.

1. Agreement

These Terms and Conditions of Use (these "Terms") govern your access to and use of the Skoot mobile application (the "App") and the services made available through it (together, the "Service"). The App is provided by Camvell Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Skoot, you accept these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to them, stop using the Service and uninstall the App.

We may provide these Terms in other languages for convenience; if there is any inconsistency, the English version prevails. Please remember that each country has its own laws and regulations, which apply to your use of the Service in that country. For example, in some countries speed camera alert features are restricted or not permitted. If that applies to you, it is your responsibility to disable any alerts or features that would breach local law (see section 4). We recommend that you check the law of the country you are in before using the Service.

2. Eligibility

To use Skoot you must:

  • be of the minimum legal age required to drive (according to the country or territory where you use the Service),
  • have a compatible device and an operating system version supported by the App,
  • accept these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

Additionally, if you use Skoot while driving you must:

  • hold a valid driving licence and comply with all laws that apply to you.

If we become aware that a user does not meet the minimum legal age required to drive where they use the Service, we may take protective measures, including restricting or withdrawing access to the Service. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that someone under the minimum driving age is using Skoot, please email us at dpo@skoot.com.

3. Service

Skoot is a real-time GPS-based application designed to help you drive in a safer and more efficient way. Features include:

  • turn-by-turn navigation
  • visual and audio alerts for speed cameras
  • emergency alerts and information

Some features require a Skoot Plus subscription (see section 10).

Traffic conditions and the locations of some cameras (for example, mobile speed cameras) change constantly. We provide the Service using reasonable skill and care, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, accurate or uninterrupted. Skoot is not an emergency service and does not replace contacting the emergency services.

4. Rules of use

By using Skoot, you agree to abide by the following conditions:

  • Law: traffic signs and instructions from the police or other authorities always take precedence over the App.
  • Safety first: do not hold or handle your device while driving. Set your destination before you set off, or let a passenger operate the App. Where you use Skoot on the move, use it only through a securely mounted device or CarPlay, and only where the law allows. Route guidance, alerts, displayed speed limits and estimated arrival times are advisory only — always obey traffic law, road signs, police directions and the actual conditions around you. You are solely responsible for driving safely and legally.
  • Camera alerts and local law: comply with the laws and regulations of the country where you use the Service (including any rules on speed camera alert features). Speed camera alert features are restricted or illegal in some countries. For example, at the date of these Terms, they are prohibited in France and Switzerland, and in Germany the driver may not use such a function while driving. Laws change and differ by jurisdiction. It is your responsibility to check the law wherever you drive and to disable or refrain from using camera alerts where they are not permitted. We do not automatically disable camera alerts based on your location, and we are not responsible for your use of them in breach of local law.
  • Prohibition of sensitive content: do not report alcohol or drug checks, or any other checks whose disclosure may put other road users or public safety at risk.
  • System integrity: do not modify, alter, clone, decompile, reverse engineer, or tamper with the App, nor use altered versions, except to the extent the law expressly permits it despite this term.
  • Respect for the community: do not submit false, malicious or deliberately misleading reports.

If we become aware of use contrary to these Terms, we may restrict features or suspend or withdraw your access to the Service, in accordance with section 8.

5. User obligations

  • Use the Service in accordance with applicable law and these Terms.
  • Keep the App up to date, so that it remains compatible and secure.
  • If you subscribe to Skoot Plus (our paid subscription — see section 10), keep the payment details on your Apple Account up to date to continue to access its features.

6. Data accuracy

  • Camera locations and types, speed limits, routes and arrival times come from datasets that can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Cameras move, roads change, and alerts are deliberately filtered by direction — so no alert is guaranteed for every camera, and the absence of an alert never means the absence of a camera or a speed limit.
  • We provide this information without any warranty as to its accuracy, and it may contain errors or omissions.

7. Intellectual property and acceptable use

Skoot, the Skoot name and logos, the App's design, user interfaces, graphics, icons and associated colour schemes are protected by trade mark and copyright law.

Our curated camera database, which belongs to Camvell Ltd and its licensors, is also protected by copyright, database right and other national and international intellectual property laws. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you.

You must not:

  • copy, extract, scrape or redistribute the camera database or any substantial part of it;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App, except to the extent the law expressly permits it despite this term;
  • resell or commercially exploit the Service, use it to build a competing dataset or service, or use it in any unlawful way;
  • interfere with the Service or its security, including its device attestation.

8. Licence and termination

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to use Skoot on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service, except that the App may also be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing. Skoot is licensed to you, not sold.

If you materially breach these Terms, or use the Service fraudulently or abusively, this licence ends automatically and we may suspend or terminate your access to the Service.

These Terms apply for as long as you use the Service. You may stop using Skoot and end this agreement at any time by uninstalling and deleting the App. Uninstalling does not cancel a Skoot Plus subscription (see section 10).

Data deletion is governed by the Privacy Policy.

9. Apple terms

Because Skoot is distributed through Apple's App Store, the following terms apply and are incorporated into these Terms:

  • These Terms are between you and Camvell Ltd only — not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Skoot and its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Skoot.
  • If Skoot fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) you paid for the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Skoot.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Skoot or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Skoot fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing those claims.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

10. Skoot Plus subscription

New subscribers get a 7-day free trial of Skoot Plus, which includes all Skoot Plus features, such as destination search, turn-by-turn navigation and camera database updates. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid, auto-renewing subscription on the monthly or annual plan you selected.

  • Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple Account through the App Store when you confirm the purchase or, if your subscription starts with a free trial, when the trial ends. The price is always shown in the App before you subscribe.
  • Renewal: Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal charge is made within 24 hours before the new period starts.
  • Invoices: If you require an invoice, you can normally request it directly from Apple, in accordance with Apple's processes.
  • Cancelling: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in iOS Settings > your name > Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Skoot Plus until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Price changes: If we change the price of Skoot Plus, Apple will notify you in accordance with App Store rules and, where required, ask for your consent before charging the new price. You can always cancel instead.
  • Restoring: On a new iPhone, use Restore Purchases in the App — no Skoot account is needed; your subscription is recognised through the App Store.
  • Refunds: Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies; we cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves. Your statutory rights as a consumer, including any right to cancel a purchase within 14 days, are unaffected.
  • Fraud prevention: We will never ask you to provide billing or payment details through unofficial channels. If you provide data to third parties impersonating Camvell Ltd, you do so at your own risk.

Uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription managed by the App Store. You must cancel it directly through the App Store.

11. Service and liability limitations

The Service depends on external factors (for example, GPS signal, network connectivity, your device, traffic information and user reports).

  • Driving: you are solely responsible for complying with speed limits and traffic regulations. Skoot does not replace your judgement as a driver.
  • Fines, penalties, or accidents: we are not responsible for penalties, fines, or accidents arising from your driving or improper use of the Service.
  • Availability: the Service may suffer interruptions, maintenance, temporary degradation, or unavailability due to technical or third-party causes.
  • Force majeure: we are not liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including (for example) failures of mobile networks, third-party providers, positioning satellites or your device, or internet restrictions.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Your submissions

When you submit a camera report (including any free-text note), you grant Camvell Ltd a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to use, reproduce, modify and distribute that submission to operate and improve the Service.

Your submission does not give you any ownership or co-ownership rights in the camera database.

You must not submit content that is unlawful, infringing or offensive, or that contains personal data about you or anyone else (for example, names or vehicle registration numbers). We may review, moderate or remove submissions at our discretion.

13. Third-party services

The map in Skoot is rendered by the Google Maps SDK; your use of it is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Route directions are provided by Mapbox, place search and geocoding by Apple Maps, and subscription management by RevenueCat, each under its own terms. You must also comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use Skoot, including those above and your mobile network's terms.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for fines, penalties, lost time or lost data, arising from your use of the Service; and (b) our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and GBP 50 (£50).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

16. Indemnity

If your deliberate or negligent breach of these Terms, or your unlawful use of the Service, causes a third-party claim against us, you will cover the reasonable losses and costs we incur as a result, except to the extent we caused them ourselves. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

17. Changes

The Service will evolve — features may change and the camera database updates continuously. We may also update these Terms for valid reasons, for example to reflect changes in the law or App Store requirements, changes to our third-party services, or changes to the Service itself. The current version will always be available in the App and on our website, showing the date it was last updated. We will notify you of material changes through reasonable means (in the App or on our website) before they take effect. Using the Service after a change takes effect means that you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and cancel any subscription (see section 10).

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and, without prejudice to the rights that may apply to you as a consumer or user, any dispute shall be submitted to the courts of England and Wales, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

19. Partial invalidity

If any clause of these Terms is held to be wholly or partly invalid or unenforceable, that invalidity or unenforceability shall affect only that provision or the part of it concerned, and the rest of these Terms shall remain in force.

20. Personal data
